About Me
I am an experienced teacher who has taught in both upper and lower school settings and in a variety of environments, including urban, unisex, co-ed, private, parochial and public. I have experience teaching honors level social studies courses, particularly US History. I am a graduate of Fordham University (Go RAMS!) with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Masters of Science in Teaching Adolescent Social Studies.
I relocated from Boston to Tampa Bay Florida with my family after having my son Rocco a year and a half ago. I am originally from New York, and am a New Yorker through and through, but after living in Boston for 4 plus years, I am a New England Patriots fan! Go Pats!!! I am excited to make Florida my new home and am grateful for this school community. As an educator, I am committed to assisting students in their educational pursuits by building curricula that cultivate essential skills and expand students’ areas of knowledge. I believe that academic achievement and effective instruction can be measured in tangible ways. I regard my students as active participants in their own education, and I believe that my classroom must be a place where students can grapple with essential questions. I actively seek to incorporate technology in my classroom whenever possible and am currently building lessons around the Google Classroom platform. The goal of my curricula is to enrich my students’ abilities to think critically and analytically, and to give them the tools that will allow them to engage effectively as responsible citizens and life-long learners. I am thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of the Palm Harbor Plato Academy faculty. I consider it an honor to teach the wonderful students at this campus. (Kids, I think you're all great! Each and every single one of you! Your futures are all so BRIGHT!) Sincerely, Sue-Ann Rodriquez |
